December

ok, let me try to remember what happened in December…

December 1st – I reached the halfway point in my pregnancy!

Not much really!  The main thing we did was gather and plan stuff for Jason’s big boy room.  We decided to take advantage of Dan’s parents visiting for Christmas and plan on moving the den stuff out then with their help and getting all Jason’s stuff set up.  I found a good “Black Friday” mattress sale for Jason’s bed and one of our local furniture stores was going out of business so we got his dresser and bedside table for a really good deal.  I just had to replace the handle pulls because they were really ugly.  We got him a personalized chair from Pottery Barn Kids and a bookshelf from Target as well as an airplane themed bedding set online.  Either way, Jason liked playing in the boxes.  I also got a taste for gift-wrapping with a 2-year-old…it’s not easy!

This year we decided to go to Illuminations at Botanica.  It’s a really cool light show thing at the local botanical gardens.  We decided to go on a comparatively warm Saturday so it was pretty crowded.  We had about a 3-4 block walk to get there.  Jason likes to walk so that was no big deal, plus we saw this house on the way which was almost as cool as the displays at Botanica.

Since our mall Santa looks like a homeless guy we decided to wait in line to see the Santa at Botanica.  It was a cold wait and I had to change a poopy diaper but it was free and he was a really good Santa!

We had a nice night overall…until the walk back.  Since it was so dark, I had Jason on my shoulders to keep him safe but then I stepped on a golf ball on the side of the road, rolled my ankle and went down hard on my knee.  Jason went crashing down to the street next to me.  I couldn’t tell if he hit his head because I was too busy trying to fall in a way that wouldn’t hurt either of my babies, but he was crying really hard.  At one point he was even getting kind of gaggy and I was worried about a head injury so we figured we better get him checked out.  We stopped by the ER on the way home and when they were able to get him a pacifier he stopped crying pretty quickly.  They looked him over and he seemed to be just fine.  He cut his finger and that seemed to be all that was wrong.  I guess God and thick winter clothing protected him!  I could barely walk the next day because my ankle was sore and my knee was in pretty bad shape but I recovered after a few days.  No more falls!

We also went to see the Santa at Petsmart because we thought it would be cute to get Bonnie and Jason in a picture together.  Jason was not impressed.  He kept saying “No….All Done!!”  At least Bonnie looks good in the picture!

Dan’s parents came down for Christmas and they had a lot of fun with Jason and it’s always nice to see them.

Rita decided to give us a surprise the day after Christmas – she laid an egg!  I always assumed she was a girl, so I’m glad I was right.  I’m not sure what got into her and why she felt the need to lay an egg but it was a pretty funny thing to find at the bottom of the cage.  I’m just happy she wasn’t sick because I was worried about her sitting at the bottom of the cage.  A couple days later she laid another one.  I let her play with them for about a week before I threw them away.

By the end of the month, I think I had a growth spurt in my belly – this is going to be a large pregnancy….

Hey, I’m actually using my poor neglected blog!  Figured it was the best place to review my latest health experiment. After running my first half-marathon, I was looking for something else to do and honestly get a good break from running after training for 6 months.  I knew my diet was a hot mess so […]

Once we got all the furniture moved in, we just had to touch up the paint, put up pictures, valences and a wall decal and Jason’s room was done! Nothing much else happened in January until the end when we decided it was time to potty train Jason.  A lot of my friends have had […]

wow, I’m so sorry if you actually follow my blog or at least would want to.  I must have forgotten I had one or something…. Anyway, I’ll try to remember what’s happened in the past few months 😉 On November 2nd, Jason turned 2.  We didn’t have a party or anything because he’s still probably […]

In October we went to the Applejack Pumpkin Patch for the first time.  We usually get our pumpkins at church and don’t bother with pumpkin patches but since Jason is old enough to enjoy it, we decided to make the trip.  They had a cute measuring thing there but he wasn’t having it….until we gave […]

August was pretty eventful – September was not!  September may be the reason for my blogging break….nothing much happened….like, at all. I did have my first ultrasound though and have the first picture of Baby Bender #2. Everything looks good so far!  I’ve been more tired and nauseous this time around but I think that’s […]

Sorry, I’ve been a bad blogger again.  It’s terrible that I keep doing this and I really need to get better at keeping stuff updated.  Anyway,  here’s what happend in August. The month started off pretty exciting.  On August 5, I got this: What?  You don’t see the line?  I wasn’t too convinced either and […]

As I attempted to recall what happened in July only one word came to mind: HOT! It’s hard to remember what happends when your brain is melted.  It was over 100 most days in July.  I still ran but I had to move it indoor so I didn’t die.  It’s boring running on the […]

I have no idea what happend…I wrote an entire post for June and it’s gone.  I think maybe I’m the problem with blogging not the sites.  :::repeated headdesks::: Guess I’ll just charge ahead and keep wasting my time on this fruitless pursuit June: June started with Vacation Bible School.  This year I did the Science […]

And now to catch up where I left off! May was a great month.  As the weather warmed up, Jason discovered corn-on-the-cob: Which followed learning quickly how to say “mmm, corn” On May 7th, I participated in the Girls on the Run Mother’s Day 5K. I had been training since February and the week before […]
